Donald Gene Hull

Funeral services for Donald Gene Hull will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 4, 2026, at the Alva First United Methodist Church with Rev. Taylor Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Waynoka Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Waynoka. Donald Gene, son of Jesse Carroll and Ellen Olive (Barber) Hull, was born September 17, 1941, in Woods County and passed away peacefully March 26, 2026, at his home near Waynoka, at the age of 84 years, 6 months, and 9 days. Don graduated from Alva High School with the Class of 1970. He attended Northwestern Oklahoma State College where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science. Don attended one semester at West Texas State University before completing seminary at Phillips University in Enid. He then pastored many congregations as a United Methodist Minister. On December 27, 1970, he was united in marriage to Cynthia Jeanne Moore at McAlester, Oklahoma. To this union two children were born: Elizabeth Jeanne and Jesse Don. As a preacher, he moved his family from one end of the state to the other ministering to his congregations. He was a member of the Lions Club and the Rotary Club. Don enjoyed fishing and hunting, fixing fence, and caring for his cattle. He loved gardening and in each town he pastored in, he would plant a fruit tree at the parsonage, hoping to enjoy the fruit of his labor before he was called to pastor another congregation. He served churches in Vici, Guthrie, McAlester, Tyrone/Union Center, Chelsea, Seiling/Taloga, Arnett/Gage, Pawnee/Skedee, Hooker, Okemah, Hollis/Gould, and Drumright/Oilton. After he retired, he and Cindy moved home to Waynoka in 2004. Besides his parents, Jesse and Ellen, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jesse “Jack” Hull and Darrel Hull; and his sisters, Della Schutte, Carol Kassik, Chrystal Burt, Dorothy Shepherd, and Ruth Downs. Don is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Cindy of Waynoka; his daughter, Elizabeth Givler and her husband, Leroy “Roy”, of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; his son, Jesse Hull and his wife, Marcia, of Ponca City; his sisters, Eleanor Blain of Sugarland, Texas, and Emma “Janie” Kanaga of Waynoka; four grandchildren, Philip Givler, Margaret Givler, Jessica and Jacob Givler, and Declan Hull; other relatives and many friends. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Alva First United Methodist Church or the Oklahoma Conference M & M funds.
