Dora Jean Watt

Funeral services for Dora Watt will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 9, 2024, at the First Baptist Church in Waynoka. Burial will follow in the Waynoka Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Waynoka. Dora Jean, daughter of Frank Alfred and Mary Jane (Sims) Bergen, was born January 18, 1938, at Alva and passed away at her home in Oklahoma City August 2, 2024, at the age of 86 years. Dora was raised at Avard and graduated from Avard High School in 1956. She attended Beaches Beauty College in Enid in 1957, and Fort Smith Cosmetology School in Fort Smith, Arkansas in 1958. On October 3, 1958, she was united in marriage to Sgt. Harold William Pirtle, Sr. of Tennessee. To this union Reba Sue was born in 1958 and Harold William, Jr. in 1963. During their marriage they traveled to Vincenza, Italy, White Sands, New Mexico, Lawton, Oklahoma, Neu-Ulm Germany, Ansback, Germany, and Augsburg, Germany, and Fort Ord, California with the United States Military. Dora Jean graduated from Woodward Nursing Program in 1977, receiving her License in Practical Nursing. She worked in the Waynoka Hospital and the Waynoka Nursing Home. She also worked at the Bethany Hospital in Bethany, Oklahoma. She was united in marriage to Major Charles Robert Watt on May 26, 1979. They made their home in Oklahoma City and to this union came Rodger Bergan Watt in 1981. She went to school for porcelain doll making and received achievements in 1989 and 1990. She enjoyed many hobbies such as bingo, reading, gardening, fishing, crocheting, sewing, dancing, and making porcelain dolls. She also enjoyed watching Days of Our Lives, Westerns, and Wheel of Fortune with her daughter Reba Sue. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and family in general. Besides her parents, Frank and Mary Jane; she was preceded in death by seven brothers, Frank, Bobby, James, Billy, John, Raymond, and Donny Bergen; five sisters, Florene Rowland, Hazel Lord, Opal Treece, Grace Chipman, and Yvonne Manning; a son-in-law, John Scott; a grandson, David Miller, Jr.; and one great grandson, Connor Miller. Dora Jean is survived by her daughter, Reba Scott of Quinlan; her sons, Harold Pirtle, Jr. and wife, Shannon, of Waynoka, and Rodger Watt of Oklahoma City; two granddaughters, Teresa Miller and partner, Wendy Jones, of Harrah, and Kayla Daughtery and husband, Travis, of Seiling; two grandsons, Tim Miller and wife, Stephanie, of Oklahoma City, and Scott Miller of Watford City, North Dakota; three great grandchildren, Kylee and Kinley Daughtery and Kadence Phillips; other relatives and friends. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital. Dora Jean was a caring, loving, and beautiful Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Friend and will be dearly missed.
