Memorial services for Elizabeth Argo will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 3, 2026, at the First Baptist Church in Alva with Rev. Dr. Steve Graham of Norman officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home. Elizabeth Kay Argo, lovingly known as Liz, was born December 23, 1946, at Chattanooga, Oklahoma. She was the younger daughter of Roy and Mildred Enterline and sister of Carolyn Osborn. Liz passed away peacefully surrounded by her family March 17, 2026, in Edmond at the age of 79 years. Raised in a minister’s family, Liz lived in several Oklahoma communities, including Chattanooga, Chickasha, Oklahoma City, and Tulsa. These early experiences helped shape her deep faith and lifelong commitment to serving others. Liz graduated from Will Rogers High School in 1964 and went on to attend Oklahoma Baptist University, where she earned a degree in Elementary Education in 1968. While at OBU, she met the love of her life, Ron Argo, in a speech class. They were married on August 10, 1968, beginning a devoted partnership that spanned 57 years. Liz began her teaching career in Texas, where she taught first grade in Mansfield and later special education in Burleson, while Ron attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. After his graduation in 1972, Liz faithfully supported his ministry as they served Baptist churches in Grantham, Canton, Leedey, and Alva. Her calling to teach continued throughout her life. She earned certification in psychometry and served as a psychometrist at the Northwest Service Center for several years. Upon obtaining a Master’s degree in Education from Northwestern Oklahoma State University, she taught special education at Alva Middle School and Alva High School. After moving to Edmond, Oklahoma, in 1990, Liz taught sixth-grade reading at Sequoyah Middle School until her retirement in 2016. To Liz, teaching was more than a profession—it was a calling, and she remained a source of encouragement to many of her students long after they left her classroom. Her love for children extended far beyond the school setting. Liz faithfully served in Sunday School and Vacation Bible School and became a cherished “surrogate mom” to many students from NWOSU involved in the Baptist Student Union. She was a constant encourager—truly a cheerleader for children—always believing in their potential. She exemplified a Christ-like life and instilled in her own children a lifelong love of reading and learning. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Liz especially treasured time with her family. She loved spending time with her six grandchildren—playing games, shopping, reading, and attending their sporting, music, and theater events. She was happiest when surrounded by her grandchildren. Liz found joy in life’s simple pleasures, including working jigsaw puzzles, knitting, baking, women’s bible study group, and watching Wheel of Fortune. She also loved traveling and always looked forward to her next adventure. Her faith was the foundation of her life. As both a preacher’s daughter and a preacher’s wife, Liz’s relationship with Christ was central to who she was. She lived her faith daily with quiet grace, kindness, and humility, reflecting God’s love to all who knew her. Liz is survived by her husband, Ron Argo; her children, Amy (John) Ryerson, Tim (April) Argo; her cherished grandchildren, Ben and Madeline Ryerson, Katherine (Hadyn) Burns, Carly, Chance and Kendall Argo; her sister, Carolyn; as well as nieces and nephews. Liz was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Mildred Enterline, and infant son, Benjamin. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and the love and encouragement she shared so freely with others. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the First Baptist Church Foundation.
