Elizabeth "Betty" Eslick

Funeral services for Betty Eslick will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 1, 2017, at the Marshall Funeral Home Chapel with Ray Hull and Rev. Mary Davis officiating. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 2, 2017, at Llano Cemetery Crypt, Amarillo, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva. Elizabeth “Betty” Eslick, daughter of the late Ernest Herbert and Edith Barbara (Popple) Rice, was born August 26, 1925, at Newport, Rhode Island, and passed away May 30, 2017, at her home north of Waynoka, at the age of 91 years, 8 months, and 4 days. Betty grew up and attended school in Rhode Island. She worked as a file clerk at the Naval Torpedo Station and later a business manager for Lone Star Ballet Company. She was united in marriage to Garlen W. Eslick April 9, 1944, in Lowell, Massachusetts. Betty was a housewife and mother and she also worked at Blackburn Brothers in Amarillo where she was the Top Fur Sales Associate. She was a member of St. John Episcopal Church. Betty enjoyed painting, sewing and designing costumes for her daughter. She later moved to Waynoka to be near family. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Garlen, an infant daughter, Betty Jean, one grandson, Jimmy Eslick, and one brother, Bill Rice. Betty is survived by three sons, Gary Eslick and wife, Karon of Wellington, Kansas, David Eslick and wife, Diane of Oronogo, Missouri, Dennis Eslick and wife, Shelly of Waynoka, Oklahoma, one daughter, Cindy Mantineo and husband, Chris of Corpus Christie, Texas; one brother, Ron Rice and wife, Louella of San Diego, California; and one sister-in-law, Ruth Houde of Selma, California. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren, David Eslick and wife Heather of Savannah, Georgia, Linda Weve and husband, Joe of Corwin, Kansas, Jeremiah Eslick and fiancé, Michelle of Grant, Nebraska, Tasha Sims and husband, Ricky of Joplin, Missouri, Michael Wheeler and wife, Tina of Weatherford, Texas, Scott Eslick of Ashland, Oregon, Jeff Wheeler of Douglasville, Georgia, Brandon Eslick of Woodward, Misty Hufford and husband, Casey of Carney, Amanda Ferguson and husband, Ryan of Mooreland, Cherie Truesdale and husband, Scott of Waynoka, and Christopher Mantineo of Corpus Christi, Texas; 29 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
