Funeral services for Jim Allen will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 16, 2026, at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) with Pastor Drew Kirtley officiating. Burial will be at 3:00 p.m. at the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery near Rosston, Oklahoma, under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva. Jimmy Ray, son of Lloyd and Violet (Hunter) Allen, was born March 21, 1942, at Liberal, Kansas, and passed into the arms of the Lord on January 9, 2026, following a short stay at the hospital in Alva, at the age of 83 years, 9 months, and 19 days. He grew up on the family farm alongside his sister, Estella, where he learned early the value of hard work, humility, and the quiet joys of rural life. He attended Forgan Schools and proudly graduated with the Forgan High School Class of 1960. Jim married Vicki Fry, and together they welcomed three children: Jimmy, Tim, and Jackie, who remained the pride of his life. He spent many years employed with Colorado Interstate Gas Company, where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic. In 1975, Jim married Connie McGill, embracing her two children as his own. Soon after, Jim and Connie moved to Alva, where they built a life rooted in farming and ranching. Ranching wasn’t just an occupation for Jim– it was his calling. He poured his heart into caring for his cattle, working the land, and spending long days on horseback. He had a natural gift with horses and could do just about anything with one. He enjoyed chasing coyotes across the countryside with his greyhounds and always had some good dogs. He also enjoyed bowling and playing dominoes. Jim’s greatest joy came from his family. He adored his grandchildren and cherished every moment spent with them. Known for his kind heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering work ethic, Jim touched countless lives and leaves behind a legacy of love, grit, and generosity. Besides his parents, Lloyd and Violet, he was preceded in death by his wife, Connie Allen. Jim is survived by his sister, Estella Hodges of Forgan; his children, Jimmy Allen and wife, Kandice, of Alva, Tim Allen and wife, Kyndra, of Laverne, and Jackie Simon and husband, Steve, of Enid; stepdaughter, Rene Verhaert of Texas; stepson, Greg Northern and wife, Dede, of Waynoka. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and many dear friends who will miss him dearly. Jim Allen lived a life defined by commitment, family, and the land he loved. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Memorial contribution may be made through the funeral home to Share Medical Center.
