Tyrel D. Coleman Dotson

Memorial services for Tyrel Dotson will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 17, 2024, at the Driftwood Christian Church with Rev. Matt Schupbach officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva. Tyrel D. Coleman, son of Robert and Rose Dotson, was born March 17, 1980, at Tulsa and passed away August 11, 2024, at Alva, at the age of 44 years, 4 months, and 25 days. Tyrel and his parents moved outside of Buffalo, Oklahoma, to a dairy farm in 1981. He was promoted to big brother the following year when his brother, Clint, was born. Ty and Clint ran, played, and went on big adventures around the farm. Ty attended school in Buffalo until his family made the move to Burlington the summer before he started Junior High. He excelled in baseball, basketball, and was active in FFA. Ty graduated from Burlington High School with the Class of 1998. He went on to Northwestern Oklahoma State University for a year, then began working in law enforcement. Later he worked in the oil and gas industry for several years. Most recently, he enjoyed working at Wheeler Brothers in Alva where he was a hard worker driving a semi hauling grain, and a spraying rig. On October 4, 2014, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Jaunita Bixler. They were looking forward to celebrating their 10th Anniversary in Hawaii this October. They shared a love of many things, including golf, relaxing on their patio, their beloved dogs, dancing in the rain, and reading. Ty was larger than life and always had a smile on his face. He loved playing golf and had a powerful swing that sent the golf ball a country mile. While golf was fun for Ty, being with his family and friends was the most important part of his life. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Carl and Ollie Dotson and Darven Davis. Tyrel is survived by his wife of nearly 10 years, Jaunita of Alva; his parents, Robert and Rose Dotson of Burlington; his best friend and brother, Clint Dotson and wife, Carrie, of Burlington; his grandmother, Cleta Davis; his stepson, Justin Cook and wife, Christabell, of Los Lunas, New Mexico; step-grandchildren, Kate and Elle Cook, and Jaxie, Jaxson, and Jethro Cook; his parents-in-law, Willie and Mary Alice Arndt of Waynoka; his niece, Hailey Rieger and husband, Tateyn; his nephew, Cash Dotson; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Alva Golf and Country Club.
