Kirby Don Darbe Sr.

October 13, 1953 - August 1, 2017

Kirby Don Darbe, Sr., son of Dona Mae (Ralston) Darbe and the Late William J. Darbe, was born October 13, 1953, at Guthrie, Oklahoma, and passed away August 1, 2017, at Avard, Oklahoma, at the age of 63 years, 9 months, and 28 days. He was cremated at his request under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva. Memorial services will be at a later date. Kirby graduated from Guthrie High School and obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Northwestern Oklahoma State University. While he was in college, he was hired as a part time police officer in Waynoka, eventually serving as Chief of Police. He later served as a police officer in Guthrie and Assistant Chief in Kingfisher. He then moved to Ft. Towson where he as a Deputy Sheriff and was awarded the Medal of Valor for his service. He moved to Avard in 2004 and worked with security at Northwestern. He was preceded in death by his father, William J. Darbe. Kirby is survived by his son, Kirby Don Darbe, Jr. of Oklahoma City; his mother, Dona Darbe of Guthrie; two brothers, Kim Darbe and wife, June, of Guthrie, and Kevin Darbe and wife, Lisa, of Guthrie; one sister, Karma Barker and husband, Jesse, of Enid; two grandchildren, William James Darbe and Lily Belle Darbe; other relatives and many friends.
