Laura Zacher Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Funeral services for Laura Faye Zacher will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2007, at the Marshall Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Terry Martindale, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Alva officiating. Interment will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Dacoma, Oklahoma, under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva. Laura Faye Zacher, daughter of the late Elmer John and Carrie A. (Lanman) Murrow, was born April 24, 1920, at Dacoma, Oklahoma, and passed away June 22, 2007 in Alva, Oklahoma, at the age of 87 years, 1 month and 29 days. Laura attended the Red Bird School through the 8th grade. On September 8, 1945, she was united in marriage to Fred Zacher in Anthony, Kansas. Laura and Fred made their home near Dacoma where they were cattle ranchers for many years. Laura also worked for a time in the grocery stores in Dacoma and Hopeton, hung wallpaper, and cleaned houses. She enjoyed going to the horse races since her father had raised race horses. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred; one son, Gary Eugene Zacher; four brothers, Harvey Murrow, Leonard Murrow, Franklin Murrow, and Charley Murrow; and three sisters, Iva Hall, Freeda Phinney, and Violet Zacher. She is survived by one sister-in-law, Mildred Murrow, of Shattuck, Oklahoma, many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Pleasant View Cemetery.
