Loren Allan James

August 7, 1943 - May 18, 2016

Loren Allan James, son of the late Albert William and Wanda Jean (Bevis) James, was born August 7, 1943, at Wichita, Kansas, and passed away May 18, 2016, at Alva, at the age of 72 years, 9 months, and 12 days. He was cremated at his request and a service will be held in Kansas at a later date. Loren attended schools in Waynoka and Kingburg, Colorado. On October 23, 1973, he was united in marriage to Diane Elizabeth Watson in Tucson, Arizona. He joined the Navy and was a firefighter in the United Stated Air Force, retiring after 22½ years. After his military retirement he was an insurance inspector and was a truck driver for a casket company. He was a member of the VFW 6957 in Hayesville, Kansas. Loren enjoyed archery and hunting. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Michael Dean James and Lee Patrick James. Loren is survived by his wife, Diane, of Haysville; four children, Michelle Grooms and husband, Christopher, of Haysville, Brenda James of Haysville, Rebecca James of Oklahoma City, and Loren James, Jr. of Oklahoma City; one brother, Virgil James and wife, Sherre, of Oklahoma City, and one sister, Marla Arnhold and husband, Daniel, of Lewisville, Texas. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Meagan Sexton and husband, Robert, of Wellington, Kristen Grooms of Haysville, Juliette James and Jillian James, both of Oklahoma City; two great grandchildren, Lucas and Matthew Sexton, both of Wellington; and other relatives and friends.
