Gravside services for Lydia Rader Crouch Brewer will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 10, 2016, at the Fairview Cemetery with Rev. John Smith officiating. Interment is under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva. The family will gather at the Alva Wesleyan Church at 11:00 a.m. Saturday. Lydia Rader Crouch Brewer, daughter of the late Charles Albus and Phoebe Lenora (Carey) Rader, was born February 21, 1922, in Woods County, Oklahoma, and passed away September 7, 2016, at Durant, Oklahoma, at the age of 94 years, 6 months, and 16 days. Lydia graduated from Capron High School and attended one year of business school. In 1941, she was united in marriage to Gerald James Crouch in Alva. He passed away in 1950. She worked as a cashier at the Rialto Theatre and at a collection agency in Oklahoma City. In 1951, she was united in marriage to Jim Brewer. She attended the Alva Church of the Nazarene. She loved reading her Bible and western books, playing cards and board games, working puzzles, and taking care of dogs. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Gerald Crouch and Jim Brewer; one brother, Albus “Bus” Rader; one sister, Goldie Rader, and one grandson, Gerald “Jerry” Nichols. Lydia is survived by her daughter, Judy Nichols and husband, Wayne, of Mead, Oklahoma; one grandchild, Deanna Phillips of Greenville, Texas; three great grandchildren, Sydney Hanner and husband, Jason, of Greenville, Texas, Jacob Phillips and wife, Courtney, of Ft. Hood, Texas, and Bailey Phillips of Greenville, Texas; one great great grandson, Conner Phillips of Ft. Hood, Texas; other relatives and friends. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the nursing home of their choice. Remembrances may be shared with the family at www.marshallfuneralhomes.com.
