Interment is under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Waynoka, LLC. Marc Scott McCray, son of Sam and Lois (Heiney) McCray, was born January 19, 1970, in Hobart, Oklahoma, and passed away June 15, 2017, at the age of 47 years, 4 months, and 26 days. His dad was deployed at the time on an aircraft carrier and was unable to meet his first born until he was seven months old. Being in a military family, Marc spent his growing up years in Albany, Georgia, Sumter, South Carolina, Austin, Texas, Key West, Florida, and Virginia Beach, Virginia. Marc graduated from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. Marc married Nicola Caccavale and from this marriage one beautiful girl was born, Alena Michelle. Sadly the marriage did not last, but their friendship did. Marc, Nicola, and Alena enjoyed many wonderful trips together and spent every Christmas together. Marc was employed by Cisco Systems as a Computer Engineer in Cary, North Carolina, where he met many good friends and coworkers. We would like to share the notes of his manager and co-workers to give a better idea of who Marc was: “All the people that Marc was working with think highly of him and are missing him.” “He made a high impact on any task he took at Cisco.” “His expertise is unique, I don’t know how much he shared with you about work, but he leads a high impacting business in our organization.” “I am so sorry to hear this.” “I am in tears and so are his colleagues.” “I passed on to all of Marc’s colleagues. He was well liked and was well respected for his expertise and work ethics. He will be missed.” “He never backed away from any challenges at work or in his personal life.” “He had an unique sense of humor which most of you must have faced at one time or another.” “He had an excellent relationship with Cox and has done an outstanding job working with Cox.” “He was always helpful to those who approached him.” “He showed immense courage last year personally in facing his health issues and came back to Cisco after a short duration of leave. I can’t believe he is no more.” After eighteen months of fighting stage four brain cancer, his parents brought him to their home in Enid where he entered Hospice and was given the best of care by Ross Hospice and their competent team as well as by loving parents. Marc was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gerald and Beatrice McCray and Bob and Avis Heiney; and by his good friend and beloved brother, Chad Alan McCray. Marc is survived by his parents, Sam and Lois McCray of Enid; his daughter, Alena McCray; other relatives and many friends. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Duke Brain Cancer Center.
