Rosetta Jean Wunschel

March 12, 1936 - July 28, 2021

Funeral services for Jean Wunschel will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 2, 2021, at the Alva Wesleyan Church with pastor Paul Kirk officiating. Interment will be in the Alva Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva. There will be a visitation with the family Sunday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7 p.m. Rosetta “Jean” Wunschel, daughter of the late Walter Thomas and Celesta (Burnidge) Howell, was born March 12, 1936, on the family farm in Woods County, Oklahoma, and passed away July 28, 2021, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 85 years, 4 months, and 16 days. Jean attended Riverview School, graduated from Northwestern Normal School, then attended Northwestern State College. On October 20, 1956, she was united in marriage to William “Bill” Edward Wunschel in Alva. She worked as a secretary for a local Old Surety Insurance Agency, then worked at the Woods County Clerk’s office until her retirement. She was a member of the Alva Wesleyan Church. She enjoyed having breakfast and celebrating birthdays with her “Spunky Girls”. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; one sister, Joan Nelson; and one niece, Connie Rutherford. Jean is survived by two daughters, Melody Theademan and husband, William, of Alva, and Jill Boyd and husband, Doug, of Canadian, Texas; two brothers, Marion Howell and wife, Lyndell, of Alva, and Tom Howell of Alva; one sister, Erlene and husband, Dr. Dennis Morehart, of Enid; five grandchildren, Zach Theademan and wife, Lynnsey, of Wichita, Cari Martin and husband, Connor, of Alva, and Mattie, Jazzie, and Sadie Boyd, all of Canadian, Texas; two great grandchildren, Griffin and Hudson Theademan, both of Wichita, Kansas; other relatives and many friends. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Freedom Gates Boys Ranch.
