Ruby Bernice Gum

May 22, 1932 - May 24, 2021

Graveside services for Ruby Gum will be held at the Waynoka Municipal Cemetery on Saturday, May 29, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend David Corley from the Calvary Baptist Church, Weatherford, Oklahoma, officiating. Interment will be in Waynoka Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Waynoka, LLC. Ruby Bernice Lairson was born on May 22, 1932, to David and Bernice (Bobbie) James Lairson in Stratford, Oklahoma. Ruby passed peacefully at Brookdale Assisted Living in Weatherford, Oklahoma, on May 24, 2021, at the age of 89. The family soon moved to the New Liberty Community where she attended and graduated from school. She then married Jessie Willsie and they had three children Mitch, Lavonna, and Maurine. Ruby returned to school to get her LPN license and worked at Western State Hospital where she retired. Ruby later met and married Gilbert Gum in 1984 and they made their home in Waynoka, Oklahoma. Gilbert had two children, Debbie (Gum) Heffel and Gary Gum. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, David and Bobbie Lairson, husband, Gilbert Gum, brother, Don, and sister-in-law, Louise McDaniel. She is survived by her children and spouses, Mitch and Jackie Willsie, Lavonna Dick West, Maurine and David Heath, Debbie and Terry Heffel, Gary and Kristi Gum, and Susan Crusinbery Gum. She is also survived by her grandchildren Tracy Hagemoser, Brandon Willsie, Jeremy Lee, Justin Lee, Zachary Heath, Zane Heath, Kristin Aguirre, Tanner Heffel, Garrett Gum, and Slade Gum; great grandchildren Chelsea Hagemoser, Tevin Hagemoser, Colby Hagemoser, Ashley Lee, JJ Lee, Cash Lee, Kady Lee, Kaycee Aguirre, Madelyn Gum, Declan Gum, Evelyn Gum, Waylon Gum, Hayden Gum, and Sutton Gum; and great great grandchildren Eli Willsie, Jubilee Willsie, Jakai Hagemoser, and Jackson Hagemoser; other relatives and friends. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Special Olympics of Oklahoma. Remembrances may be shared with the family at www.marshallfuneralhomes.com.
