Memorial services for Travis Clay Whitaker will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 7, 2020, at the Freedom School with Rev. Mark Kinkel officiating. Services are under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva. Travis Clay Whitaker, son of Jean Etta (Tackett) Whitaker and Roy Willis Whitaker, was born July 23, 1973, in Anthony, Kansas, and passed away June 3, 2020, at his home northwest of Alva, in Woods County, Oklahoma, at the age of 46 years, 10, months, and 11 days. After Travis graduated from Chaparral High School near Anthony, Kansas, he moved to Alva where he attended NWOSU. He shoed and walked horses to earn part of his tuition. He was a member of the Freedom Christian Church. He was an avid outdoors man who loved coyote hunting, breaking horses and rodeos. Branson, Missouri, was his favorite destination where he visited his mother. He loved his ranching career. Travis is survived by his mother Jean Whitaker of Branson, Missouri; his father, Roy Whitaker and wife, Ila, of Freedom; his daughter, Oakley Cash Whitaker of Waynoka; two brothers, Shawn Whitaker of Freedom and Jim Whitaker Sellers of Cain Hill, Arkansas; one sister, Donna Reynolds and husband, Steve, of Wichita; other relatives and friends. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Wounded Warriors Project.
