Barbara "Bobby" Ann Wiersig

Funeral services for Barbara Wiersig will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at the Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Timothy Roggow officiating. Burial will follow in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva. Barbara Ann Wiersig, affectionately known as Bobby, was born on November 16, 1947, in Madison, Kansas, to Walter W. Schroeder and Evelyn B. (Bell) Schroeder and passed away peacefully at her home in Alva July 18, 2026, at the age of 78 years, 8 months, and 2 days. She was raised alongside her younger sister, Judy, and graduated from Madison High School in Madison, Kansas, with the Class of 1965. Following high school, she attended Wichita Business College, where she prepared for a successful career in the workforce. She spent many years working for Turner Ford and John North Ford, where she was known for her dedication and strong work ethic. Later, she continued her career at Walmart, where she made many lasting friendships and continued to serve others with kindness and dependability. In 1972, Bobby met the love of her life, Wayne Wiersig, at Messiah Lutheran Church. Their relationship quickly blossomed, and they were married on April 8, 1973, beginning a lifelong partnership built on love, faith, and devotion. Together they were blessed with two wonderful sons, Brian and Kevin, who were the pride and joy of her life. Bobby was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and the heart of her family. She worked alongside Wayne in every sense of the word. Together they remodeled their home, and Bobby never hesitated to climb onto the roof beside her husband, determined to help transform their house into a warm and welcoming home. Her willingness to work hard, her unwavering support, and her partnership with Wayne were a testament to the strength of their marriage. One of Bobby's favorite pastimes was bowling, and she was exceptionally good at it. She loved the friendly competition and the friendships she made along the way. Bobby was also an extraordinarily gifted artisan whose talent was evident in everything she created. She was especially known for her hand-beaded ornaments, each one meticulously crafted with patience, precision, and attention to detail. Her talents extended far beyond beadwork, as she created beautiful handmade gifts that brought joy to family, friends, and all who received them. Christmas was one of Bobby's favorite times of the year, and her holiday traditions became treasured family memories. She was known for her delicious Christmas cookies, lovingly made in honor of her German and Swedish heritage. Among her most cherished recipes were her beloved spritz cookies, which became a family favorite. Bobby proudly passed this recipe on to her sister, Judy, ensuring that her special holiday tradition would continue for years to come. Above all else, Bobby will be remembered for her loving heart, quiet strength, generous spirit, incredible creativity, and her devotion to her family. She found joy in caring for those she loved and building a home filled with warmth, laughter, and cherished traditions. Her legacy lives on in the family she loved so deeply and the countless memories she leaves behind. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten. Besides her parents, Walter and Evelyn, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne; her son, Kevin Wiersig; and a brother-in-law, Henry Blair. Barbara is survived by her son, Brian Wiersig of Newcastle; her sister, Judy Blair of Tucson, Arizona; a sister-in-law, Darlene Wiersig of Portland, Oregon; other relatives and many friends. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Zion Lutheran Church.
