Carolyn Rosa Hofer

Funeral services for Carolyn Hofer will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 13, 2026, at the Alva Wesleyan Church with Pastor Paul Kirk officiating. Burial will follow in the Alva Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home. At her request, the casket will remained closed. Carolyn Rosa, daughter of Ira James and Avis Irene (Kilmer) Rodgers, was born April 2, 1940, at Alva and passed away peacefully surrounded by family February 8, 2026, at her son’s home in Achille at the age of 85 years, 10 months, and 6 days. Carolyn and her sister, Sondra, were raised in Alva. She attended Horace Mann Grade School and later graduated from Alva High School with the Class of 1958. She attended 2 years at Northwestern Oklahoma State College. On February 9, 1958, she was united in marriage to William James “Bill” Hofer. To this union four children were born: Wayne, Jimmy, Connie, and James Lee. As a young girl, Carolyn worked along side her mother at the Alva Laundry and later the Golden Crust Bakery. Several years after she and Bill were married they managed the Knotty Pine Tavern and Grill for a time. And later in their marriage they became custom harvesters. She was always a great support for Bill, taking care of the kids, cooking meals for the crew, keeping laundry up, and if needed, she would be the spare driver for the wheat truck. After many years of harvesting their two sons took over as she and Bill settled into farming and ranching. She enjoyed bowling through the years and she especially enjoyed precious time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She has been a longtime member of the Hopeton Wesleyan Church. Besides her parents, Jim and Avis Rodgers, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; an infant son, James Lee; her daughter, Connie Lynn Hofer; a granddaughter, Sharee Taylor; and a nephew, Tony Ginder. Carolyn is survived by her sons, Wayne Hofer and his wife, Donna, of Achille, and Jimmy Hofer of Alva; her sister, Sandra Redlon of Blackwell; ten grandchildren, Travis Hofer and his wife, Christina, of Bison, Kay Singleton and her husband, Raymond, of San Angelo, Texas, Leann Stout and her husband, Ron, of Daisy, Nicole Bennett and her partner, Jessika Sandoval, of Noble, Meghan Carol and her husband, Josh Lambo, of Lillington, North Carolina, Katie Williams and her husband, Justin, of Alva, Jemikay Bolen and her husband, Grant, of Pratt, Kansas, Austin Hofer of Alva, Jason Tiemann of Carrolton, Texas, and Justin Taylor of Tulsa; twenty-three great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Cal Farley Boys Ranch.
