Oringa Cathrine McGuire

A Mass of Christian Burial for Oringa Cathrine (Reichenberger) McGuire will be 10 a.m., Friday, July 16, 2021, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 627 12th Street, Alva, Oklahoma, with Father Bala Sagili officiating. Interment service will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva. Oringa C. McGuire, daughter of the late Joseph A. and Cecilia “Lillian” (Thimmesch) Reichenberger, was born October 18, 1928, in Nashville, Kansas, and passed away Saturday, July 10th, 2021, at Alva, Oklahoma, at the age of 92. Oringa’s school years were spent in Sharon, Kansas, graduating high school in 1946. On June 1, 1946, she was united in marriage to Powell G. McGuire at Sharon, Kansas. She met Powell while working at the Sharon Café, ran by her mother. They ran Mac’s Grocery in Sharon, Kansas for a year. She was a stay at home mom for 15 years in Sharon and Attica Kansas. Later she worked 10 years in the Satanta school district as a cook at Satanta, Kansas. After moving to Hammon, Oklahoma she worked 10 more years in the Hammon school district. She was a member of Monica Circle, Yo Club and the Altar Society. In 1985 Powell and Oringa moved to Alva, Ok. To retire and be close to their grandchildren. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, Sudoku puzzles, Seek a Word, Jumble Word and cryptograms each and every morning. She loved going to the casinos, hard to believe she came out ahead, also liked her Sonic hamburger and onion rings and always looked forward to eating at Chopsticks weekly. She was also an excellent cook. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Besides her parents, her husband Powell of 64 years, her three brothers, Donovan, Cletus and Jerome Reichenberger, sister Lonetta Carlile, daughter Brenda Traffas, two brother-in-law’s Bernard Carlile and Robert Soptic, two sister-in-law’s Dorothy and Barbara Reichenberger, two step-grandsons Danny and Dusty Traffas, preceded her in death. Oringa is survived by a sister Rosemary Soptic of Roeland Park, Ks., two sons, Nick McGuire of Alva, Ok., and Pat (Kathy) McGuire of Woodward, Ok., son-in-law Charlie Traffas of Wichita, Ks., grandchildren Keri (Billy) Pannell of Alva, Ok., Ericka (Kris) Beaty of Woodward, Ok., Ryan (Kelli) McGuire of Austin Tx., great grandchildren Jordyn, Matthew and Rowen Pannell, Lakin and Kaitlyn Beaty, step-grandchildren Mike Traffas of Wichita, Ks., Genae (Brett) Hathaway of Wichita, Ks. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Sacred Heart Catholic Church Building Fund or Kitchen Remodel Fund, Alva, Ok. Arrangements by Marshall Funeral Home.
