Randy Nation

Memorial services for Randy Nation will be 10:00am Monday, April 3, 2023, at the Alva High School Basketball Gymnasium with Ryan Pullan officiating. He was cremated at his request under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva. There will be a visitation with family 6-8pm Sunday, April 2, at Marshall Funeral Home. Randal Lynn Nation, son of Charles Robert and Reba Nell (Van Meter) Nation, was born June 7, 1966, at Sapulpa, Oklahoma, and passed away March 26, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family and close friends at the age of 56 years, 9 months, and 19 days. Randy grew up in Sapulpa graduating from Sapulpa High School. He attended NEO and received his Associates Degree and later graduated from OSU with his Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture Education. He was on Livestock Judging teams when he was in high school and college. He taught Ag at Aline-Cleo Schools before moving to Alva where he has taught Ag for the past 30+ years. On May 23, 1987, he was united in marriage to Lisa Kay Pogue at Welch, Oklahoma. They had two daughters, Leslie and Brooke. Randy was committed to excellence as a teacher and mentor of the Alva FFA program. He enjoyed advising many students and young leaders to learn and appreciate discipline, responsibility and serving their community. Randy also applied these teachings to his own life raising livestock with his family throughout his years. He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa of Alva; his two daughters, Leslie Nation of Alva, and Brooke Fiser and her husband, Luke, of Bixby; his parents, Charles and Reba Nation of Sapulpa; a brother, Keith Nation and his wife, Shannon, of Sapulpa; a sister, Serita Selman and her husband, Justin, of Stillwater; brother-in-law Ken Pogue and his wife Karri, of Miami, Oklahoma; brother-in-law Chris Pogue, of Miami, Oklahoma; six nieces and three nephews; his extended family of the Alva FFA, other relatives and many friends. Randy was preceded in death by father-in-law Jack and mother-in-law Karen Pogue, of Miami, Oklahoma. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Randy Nation Alva FFA Scholarship Fund.
