Robert Neal Babcock

Funeral services for Robert Babcock will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 24, 2026, at the Freedom Christian Church with Pastor Mark Kinkel officiating. Cremation will follow the service and his cremains will be buried at a later date in the Freedom Cemetery. There will be a visitation with family present from 6-8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 23 at Marshall Funeral Home. Robert Neal, son of Raymond Lewis and Blanch Irene (McMoran) Babcock, was born March 30, 1955, at Welch, Oklahoma and passed away peacefully with his daughter and his son in law by his side April 15, 2026, at Oklahoma City at the age of 71 years and 16 days. He was raised in Freedom where he graduated high school in 1973. He attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Math in 1978. On July 22, 1977, he was united in marriage to Debra Pate and to this union two children were born: Heather and Robert, Jr. Robert enlisted in the United States Army and served proudly, retiring after 20 years. Being in the military, he moved his family around various places where he was stationed. After he retired from the military he returned to his hometown of Freedom where he lived the rest of his life. Robert was a member of the American Legion and served on the Freedom School Board for a few years. He enjoyed playing solitaire and war games, spending time with his family and watching old war movies. Besides his parents, Raymond and Blanche, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Sandra Matherly and Carol McKim; other siblings, Ramona, Deverle, Lahoma, and Oleta; and a grandson, Matthew Arndt. Robert is survived by his daughter, Heather Arndt and her husband, Michael, of Alva; his son, Robert Babcock, Jr. and partner, Meg Smith, of Edmond; his brothers, Jim Shreeve of Freedom and Bill Fuller of Hewitt, Texas; his sister, Sue Mitchell of Freedom; his grandchildren, Joseph Watson of Alva, Sergio Babcock of Oklahoma City, Michael Arndt, Jr. of Alva, and Dayton Arndt of Alva; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the funeral home.
