Shirley Ann Schuessler

Memorial services for Shirley Schuessler will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, August 10, 2024, at the Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Timothy Roggow officiating. Burial will be prior to the service under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva. There will be a visitation with family present 5-7p.m. Friday at Marshall Funeral Home. Shirley Ann, daughter of Christian and Alma Minnie Caroline (Koeltzow) Kramer, was born February 28, 1938, at Oklahoma City and passed away peacefully surrounded by her family August 4, 2024, at Oklahoma City at the age of 86 years, 5 months, and 4 days. Shirley was raised in Oklahoma City and graduated with the first senior class of Northwest Classen High School in 1956. She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree from Oklahoma University in 1960. She began her career with Guernsey Engineering & Architectural Company in Oklahoma City as his personal secretary. She met her future husband at a Lutheran Youth Camp and a few years later on December 30, 1960, she was united in marriage to Harvey Schuessler in Oklahoma City. They made their home in Alva where they raised their family. They worked together at their business Schuessler Insurance and Real Estate which eventually included their daughter and her husband. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church where she was involved in Ruth Circle, Church secretary, LWML, was a Weekday school teacher, VBS and Pitch Night. She loved to read and cook, and was especially a great pie maker. Her parents owned Meridian Lanes in Oklahoma City and so her love for bowling began. She bowled on many leagues throughout the years. Her gift of entertaining included many family gatherings which she enjoyed so much. She loved her family and was proud of their accomplishments. Her precious dogs were loved by her as well. Besides her parents, Christian and Alma, she was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Marvin Kramer and Don Hughes. Shirley is survived by her husband of 63 years, Harvey of Alva; her children, Keith Schuessler and wife, Shari, of Hutchinson, Kansas, Brenda Hood and husband, Mike, of Alva, and Scott Schuessler and wife, Christa, of Stillwater; her sister, Dorothy Kramer of Dallas, Texas; eight grandchildren, Brandon Schuessler and wife, Lindsey, of Assaria, Kansas, Holly Cooprider and husband, Brent, of Hutchinson, Kansas, Kevin Schuessler of Hutchinson, Kansas, Davis Hood and wife, Hayley, of Frisco, Texas, Heather Jenkins and husband, Matthew, of Tulsa, Karsten Schuessler of Oklahoma City, Eric Schuessler of Springfield, Missouri, and Tripp Schuessler of Stillwater. Also surviving are seven great grandchildren, Kennedy, Lucas, and Savannah Schuessler, Amelia and Thomas Cooprider, and Ava and Hudson Jenkins; a sister-in-law, Ruby Hughes; other relatives and many friends. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Zion Lutheran Church/ Youth Group.
